I really enjoyed this! Once I got sucked in, all I wanted to do was read this story. Seriously: I was reading right before my test started, and reading again between classes. Then I checked Goodreads and found out that this book was published in 2011!
I was more than pleasantly surprised because:
The writing and plot is so good!! And I'm saying this because some books really do not stand against the test of time; while they might have been considered good in their time, reading it (even for the first time) in present day sheds a new light. 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' is definitely a great book.
Why is this book not as hyped as other fantasy books!!! (Or have I just not seen the hype?) Is it because the following books are not as good? I don't know, but I can't wait to read on and find out for myself!
Also, Akiva is so CUTE!!! 😍
This book does have its imperfections; for example, there could have been inclusions of more diverse characters. I could also guess where the plot was going. However, considering that it was published in 2011 (still blows my mind), this is really, really good.
