I've had this on my TBR for super long and really wasn't excited to pick this up for some reason... until this year.

Kiera Johnson is the creator of SLAY, a multiplayer role-playing card game for Black gamers worldwide. No one knows Kiera is the game developer, not even her boyfriend, Malcolm, who believes video games are partially responsible for the "downfall of the Black man." Things are going well until a teen is murdered over a dispute in the SLAY world.

This book seems to have blown up for a short period of time this year (2020) and was a book everyone on BookTube was talking about. Thus, I became quite intrigued and wanted to pick this up and read for myself.

Even with the amount of hype surrounding this book boosting my expectations, 'Slay' delivered. One thing to note is that I listened to the audiobook whilst reading, and that experience really made me enjoy this book so much more. I am quite picky with the audiobooks I listen to; sometimes I stop listening to an audiobook because I feel that the voices don't fit the image of the characters in my head, or I just don't like the voice. The audiobook for 'Slay' has different voices for the characters, which made the experience all the more fun.

The fact that it's been quite a while since I finished reading this book and I still keep thinking back about it says a lot about how good this book is.
